So little time and so Much to do? The answer may be Math Workshop!

90 minutes sounds like plenty of time to teach math, but it never seems to be enough! Whole group, math facts, and math centers.....how to do it all in just 90 minutes and insure all students are learning? Have you heard of Math Workshop? Several of our Tahlequah teachers are now using this concept to fit it all in each day. Math Workshop is much what our literacy teachers have been doing forever. The general idea is the teacher meets with the whole group for about 10 minutes each day, then the students break up into groups and rotate through math activities using a choice board, while the teacher is instructing 5-6 students in small group. Wow! It really works. Once the small group instruction has completed, the teacher brings the students back to whole group to reflect on the learning that has taken place. You will even have time for your math fact instruction of 20 minutes each day. If you are interested in the concept of Math Workshop, let me know and we will get together to make a game plan.
